Lat Krabang road runs out past the airport from central Bangkok (around 20km up On Nut Road, Sukhumvit 77), below is a map of the airport zone with a few ideas for each area. A few of the soi (side street) numbers are included for reference. Notice that the odd numbered sois on the north side of the road do not remotely match the even numbered ones on the south and there are many 'sub-sois' (e.g. 3/1, 3/2, ... etc). Take care when looking for locations based on soi number. This map is for rough reference only - I assume you have google to help you though if you need it.
PrawetPaseo Mall is the biggest thing in this area. Come here for Starbucks and various other chains.
999 Fresh Market - (Soi 1/5) An everyday Thai fresh market. Starts to open from 0400 morning and aside from the various fresh ingredients there is also a large range of street foods; just don't expect to see any food hygiene certificates. Kor Kun Restaurant - (Soi 1/19) A very interesting barbecue restaurant which deals in different cuts of beef. A buffet menu is available but many of the finest cuts are on the a la carte listing. Also available is Jim jum a heated clay pot of soup in which you cook vegetables and meat. The Paseo - (Soi 20-22) Plenty of choice for eating and light shopping. Most places open at 10-11am. |
Yaek Saengjan"Moonlight" Intersection, there are several large restaurants here and a couple of hotels.
Golden Jade Hotel - (Near Soi 3) This place has rooms, a restaurant, and a karaoke bar advertised. King Keaw Market - (Soi 30) A fairly lively street food and kiosk market. Nothing special, but fun to explore if it's new to you. Koh Lanta - (~300m up Yaek Saengjan road) An enormous and lavishly decorated restaurant with live music. Not too expensive but on several flight paths. Saengjan Restaurant - (~100m up Yaek Sanengjan Road) A smaller, local restaurant with live music. Guia Dtiao Kai - A few doors down from the golden jade hotel is a large noodle shop with a full range of different noodle soups as well as Thai ice creams. |
Lat KrabangA fairly quiet stretch but several characterful restaurants.
O-Jang - (After Soi 7) Simple rice and noodles during the day, switching to Japanese food in the evening. "Waterside" Restaurant - (Near Soi 9/1) A nice evening restaurant by a man made pond. Next door there is a noodle shop which is open during the day. R.P. Place - (Soi 9/1) Small hotel down a very quiet soi. A little isolated but quiet; small restaurant and travel agent on site. "Uncle's Moustache" Steak - (Near Soi 9/1, about halfway between Soi 7 & 9) Surprisingly cheap steak and chips by the side of the road. Opens ~5pm. Ralph Larao - (Off the road, Panini plaza, Soi 37) A nice little restaurant which is really not a designer clothing outlet despite their odd branding. The name is a pun from Thai. Gai Yang Korat - (on the road Near Soi 38) An outdoor restaurant with karaoke stage. English menu available. |
Yaek Suksaman"Unity" Intersection has a large number of restaurants, hotel and several live music bars.
The Peak - (Near Soi 46) A large outdoor restaurant with live music. Race 72 - (Near Soi 11/11) Almost opposite the peak and very similar but with more of a bar feel and smaller ZonE - (Soi 11/4) With the Euro symbol in its name this restaurant shows it serves pretty good European and Thai food. Also has private Karaoke rooms and live music. Suvarnabhumi Market (At the intersection) This large market opens around 5pm and has a large range of food available as well as clothes and accessories. Phra Nakhon Park - (Soi 50/1) - If you are looking for a nice little city park to wander round then this place is open all day. Many people come here to exercise and there are a number of sports and exercise facilities. |
Hua Dta KaeMoving out of Lat Krabang, Hua Dta Kae is a local high street in the suburbs. There are still a few restaurants or takeaways.

Street Markets - Periodically along Lat Krabang road there are several street markets where all sorts of things are sold from outdoor tents. The biggest ones are near Yaek Suksaman and King Keaw but smaller ones can be found all over.
Karaoke Bars - Independent and often tiny establishments where you can buy alcoholic beverages and sing classic Thai pop and rock hits. These places are usually staffed by hostesses for the men to hit on but they are unlikely to trouble foreigners (or too shy to approach). Some of these shops are extremely dingy and run down, but people are usually friendly. If venturing in keep your wits about you and make your own assessment of each place, especially late at night.
Massage Shops - Thai Massage is a very popular business but of course there are massage shops and there are massage shops. Around Lat Krabang the more coloured lights there are, the more likely that there is more to the place than meets the eye. If your masseur is massaging too hard say bao bao na. if they are massaging too soft then say raeng gwaa na
